As BECS develops, we continue to enhance the system with a series of optional Add-ons which provide features that increase the levels of service to your customers.
There are three Add-ons currently available for BECS: Statistics, Accessibility and Live Chat.
This Add-on provides high-level statistics of BECS' usage. It allows you to measure the uptake and success of BECS over time.
The Statistics Add-on offers the following features:
 - Total Calculations Started
- Total Calculations Completed
- Total Questions Answered
- Aggregate Statistics or split by user's IP address/hostname
- Above statistics for any period required, including All To Date
- Comprehensive site visitor and activity statistics
- Export to CSV for use in spreadsheets
- Export to RTF for use in wordprocessors
The Statistics Add-on is currently included FREE.
The problem with some e-Government services is that they exclude up to 20% of their target users. People with physical, sight and learning disabilities are often unable to gain access to services because they have not been designed with accessibility in mind. BECS provides full access for everyone through the BECS Accessibility Add-On.
A cost-effective component of the BECS service, the Accessibility Add-on provides an automatically restyled version of BECS that runs alongside the standard version of BECS, with the following features:
 - Bobby AAA Approved
- W3C WCAG Approved
- eGovernment Access Keys
- Skippable menus
- Alternative text
- eGMS Metadata
- Form field grouping
- High contrast, high visibility fonts
With full Bobby AAA Approval, BECS is now available for use on specialised browsers, including screen readers (e.g. tested on JAWS) and Braille displays. It opens up the benefits of BECS to the people who need it most.
There are times when a customer needs human expertise that is outside the scope of BECS. Sometimes customers just need reassurance that they are making the most of BECS.
This usually means saving the BECS session, disconnecting the modem from the phone line and calling your Benefits Team, before reconnecting to the Internet and restarting the saved session in BECS.
The Live Chat Add-on avoids this disruptive procedure, allowing you to provide a higher level of service to your customers.
The Add-on provides the following facilities:
 - Customers simply make a one-click request for help from the Web site
- Requests are alerted to your Benefits Team instantly
- Any member of your Team can answer a request
- Live Chat between you and the customer
- No downloads or plug-ins required by your customers
- Indicator on site shows customers if member of your Team is available
- Customers able to send message when Team is unavailable
- Full log and transcript of chat sessions
- Customers able to continue BECS session whilst chatting with your Team
